拉里特（纳萨鲁丁·沙 Naseeruddin Shah 饰）和皮米的女儿阿迪特（玛德胡瑞·迪克西特 Madhuri Dixit 饰）即将步入婚礼的殿堂。这对用心良苦的父母想给予女儿一个盛大而又华丽的婚礼，可无奈家中经济情况有限，他们只能想方设法缩减用度，奇招用尽。实际上，阿迪特甚至没有见过自己的未婚夫，此时的她正陷入一场不伦的恋情中无法自拔，这样的情况下，她即将到来的婚姻生活会幸福吗？ 丽尔是拉里特的侄女，她非常向往美国自由民主的风气，然而，她的心里隐藏这一个黑暗的秘密。她的叔叔，也就是拉里特的哥哥虽然肩负着家庭里的经济重任，却是一个喜欢威胁和虐待的变态。Dia is a divorced mom living in New York and must go back to India after she receives news that her guru is on his death bed. When she arrives she finds he is gone and has left her the responsibility of saving and reviving the Ajanta Theater where she used to dance. The problem is that the political officers want it torn down and turned into a shopping mall. The storyline follows Dia and her challenge to stand up for what she believes in and fight the cause to the end, while trying to win back the love and support of the people of the town whom she walked out on ten years prior.
